Cooling Miramar, east to west

Miramar stretches across southwest Broward County, from State Road 7 out to the edge of the Everglades, with Miami-Dade County along its southern border. That spread means very different homes and equipment from one end of the city to the other.

The east side, where the city began in the 1950s, has older single-family streets. Out west, master-planned communities such as Silver Lakes, Monarch Lakes and Sunset Lakes are mostly newer and larger, and the Miramar Park of Commerce brings offices and warehouses to the I-75 side of town.

01

Older homes on the east side

Houses near State Road 7 are some of the oldest in the city. Aging systems and ductwork need more repairs, and sometimes it's time to compare a repair against a new, right-sized system.

02

Newer, bigger homes out west

Two-story homes in Silver Lakes, Monarch Lakes and Riviera Isles often have upstairs rooms that run warmer. Tune-ups twice a year keep those systems balanced and efficient.

03

Offices and warehouses

The Miramar Park of Commerce and the business parks near I-75 run cooling all day for staff and stock. We work on commercial systems as well as homes.

04

Shops and restaurants

Plazas along State Road 7, Miramar Parkway and Pembroke Road are full of restaurants, markets and convenience stores that rely on walk-ins, reach-ins and ice machines.

What Broward weather does to an AC

  • A long cooling season. In Broward County the AC runs most of the year, so parts wear faster than in places with a real winter.

  • Humidity from the Everglades side. Your system pulls moisture out of the air as well as heat. One that can't keep up leaves rooms clammy and invites mold.

  • Clogged drain lines. All that moisture leaves through a condensate line. When algae blocks it, water backs up into the air handler or onto the floor.

  • Summer storms. Afternoon thunderstorms and power flickers can trip breakers or damage controls. If the AC won't start after a storm, call us.
